Troopers searching for suspect in Smyrna parking lot robbery

Delaware State Police are looking for a suspect following a robbery at a Smyrna liquor store. Troopers say a 47-year-old male employee of Spruance City Liquors on Smyrna-Clayton Blvd., had closed the store around 10:55 P.M., and was walking to his vehicle when he was approached by a male between 21-26 years old.

The police report says the male suspect approached the victim from behind and demanded money. The report continues to say, the victim proceeded to retrieve the money from his pockets, when he was struck in the head by an unknown object.

Troopers say at that time, another vehicle entered the parking lot, and the suspect fled on foot without obtaining any cash. Police say the suspect is described as a white male approximately 5’05”-5’07” tall, 140-160 lbs., wearing a mask over his face.

The victim was reportedly injured from the incident, and was treated at Bayheath-Smyrna Emergency Care Center for non-life threatening injuries.
