SUV collides with tanker

Around 6:34 P.M. Monday, Maryland State Police responded to a motor vehicle crash involving an SUV and an oil tanker.

Authorities say the driver of the Toyota 4-Runner SUV, Martha Waters Pusey, 54, of Snow Hill, Md., reportedly failed to yield to the tanker driven by Tommy Lee Harmon Jr., 40, of Oak Hall, Va., headed northbound on Worcester Highway (U.S. Route 113) near Public Landing Road.

Both drivers were taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center for what police say were minor injuries. HAZMAT was on the scene to clean up after oil spilled from the tanker. The oil tanker had apparently unloaded before the crash.

Maryland State Police is on the scene. Authorities say southbound traffic on Worcester Highway is being detoured through Church Street, as cleanup continues.

As of now, police say Pusey has been charged with negligent driving and failure to yield right of way.
