SU graduates commissioned as 2nd lieutenants

Friday marked a big day for three Salisbury university students, who were commissioned as second lieutenants.
Emily Bender, William Mitchell, Robert Spencer have officially graduated from Salisbury University’s ROTC program.
Before they took their oath of office, Major General William Roy of the U.S. Army gave the commissioning address and gave advice to the cadets for their military careers.
Major Daniel Bowles, an associate professor of Military Science, says the ROTC can help college students in a number of ways.
“We certainly offer certain scholarships that help of course because we know college isn’t cheap so helping them pay for school and teaching them Leadership and also showing them different walks of life in the military and at their respective colleges here.” Major Bowles.
The three newly commissioned second lieutenants will now complete training that is more specific to their army field.
