QA Girls Lacrosse Come Up Short In Title Game

The Queen Anne’s girls lacrosse team saw their incredible season come to an end Tuesday with a 16-5 loss in the State Championship game to Manchester Valley. The Lions finish the year earning second place in the 2A/1A Girls Lacrosse.

The Mavericks came storming out of the gates, scoring 5 goals in the first 5 minutes before the Lions had seemed to settle in. After the initial quick start, the lions were able to slow them down and keep themselves in the game. Hanna Scott would find Madion Ascione on a cut and she would put it home to cut the Mavericks lead to 8-2. But Manchester Valley would score two more times to close out the half to take an 8 goal lead into the break.

Queen Anne’s couldn’t get anything going in the second half as the Mavericks continued to build on their lead. Eventually the time would run out on the Lions as they came up just 1 win shy of a state title.
