Police investigate slayings of married couple in Rockville

Montgomery County police are investigating the slayings of a married couple at their Rockville home.

Police say 65-year-old Richard Vilardo and his wife, 67-year-old Julianne Vilardo, were found dead Sunday just outside the rear of their home. Police say the deaths are being investigated as homicides.

Police say both suffered trauma to the upper body and that autopsies will be performed to determine the cause of death.

Police say the Vilardos were found dead shortly before 12:30 p.m. by a relative who went to check on them. They had been supposed to meet the relative but didn’t show.

Police say the couple was known to be alive as recently as Saturday evening.
