Perfect Season Continues As Colonels Take Regional Crown

The Colonel Richardson baseball team continued their perfect season Friday when they traveled to Cambridge SD and took down the Vikings 17-2. The Colonels now advance to take on McDonough in the state semifinals game on Tuesday.

The teams would be locked in a pitchers duel early. Matt Elliott would pick up a couple strike outs for the Vikings through the first couple innings, but Caleb Johnson was just as good for the Colonel. The bats would come alive in the 3rd for the Colonels though. Jaret Bennett would get it started with an RBI base knock to center. Dylan Nepert would cap off the innings with a 2 RBI single down the 3rd base line to give CR a 5-0 lead. The Vikings would come right back in the bottom of the frame though, mounting a 2 out rally. Tyler Harding would score off a wild pitch, and then Michael Richardson would hit a RBI single to get his team within 5-2. But CR’s bast would explode from there. They would use a 9 run in the 6th, highlights by a 2 RBI single from Johnson. The Colonels would close it out from there for the win.
