Over 200 people come to career fair in Rehoboth

Jobs were the topic in Rehoboth Beach today as seventy employers from different sectors came together at the convention center looking for new hires.
Employers from manufacturing, agriculture, food services as well as government agencies were on hand as were about 200 job seekers.
The free event hosted by Delaware US Senators included resume building and interview tips whether for a long-term job or a summer job.
Senator Tom Carper stressed the need for job creation as well as stabilization,
“The number of people are looking for work they don’t have the skills necessarily to fill these couple of million jobs over here so part of what we are trying to do is enhance the skills that would help people who have a hard time finding work and actually qualify for the jobs that are out there,” says Carper.
Delaware’s unemployment rate is down to 4.6%. According to the most recent numbers from the Labor department that’s below the national average of 5.5%.
