One dead, one injured after SUV crash in Kenton

State Police are investigating a fatal crash, that killed a Maryland man, in Kent County, Delaware early Monday morning.

Delaware State Police say around 1:35 AM, 21-year-old Kevin Perry, of Maryland was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe on Sudlersville Road, near Owls Nest Road, with 21-year-old Dymond Dantzler. During the drive, Perry reportedly he missed a curve in the roadway, and instead continued straight.

According to the report, the SUV then drove off the road, hitting a DelDOT sign, then continued through a grassy ditch, where the vehicle went airborne. Police say the Tahoe then hit a tree, causing it to stop.

Perry, who was apparently wearing a seat belt, was rushed from the scene by EMS to Kent General Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injures. Police say Dantzler, was not wearing a seat belt, and was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash reportedly is still under investigation by the DSP Collision Reconstruction Unit.

Sudlersville Road was closed for around three and a half hours, while the crash was investigated, and the scene cleared.
