One arrested on drug charges in Dorchester County

A Federalsburg man was taken into custody during a joint drug investigation in Dorchester County.
The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office says on Thursday, members of a Combined Enforcement Unit were working on a covert narcotics investigation in the Prospect Heights area of Hurlock.
Authorities say that investigation led to the arrest of 27-year-old Formonte West, along with the seizure of 73.8 grams of crack cocaine, 30.8 grams of powdered cocaine, 216 bags totaling 66.7 grams of heroin, $75.00 in cash, 2 electronic scales, and a cell phone.
After the arrest, West was charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of heroin, possession of crack cocaine, possession of cocaine, possession of paraphernalia, failure to obey a lawful order, and other related charges.
He is now being held at the Dorchester County Detention Center without bond.
Members of the CEU include the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office, Hurlock Police Department, Cambridge Police Department and the Maryland State Police.
