New art makes its way to the riverside in Salisbury

A new piece of art made it’s way to the Wicomico riverside today thanks to a group at Salisbury U.
Inspired by his first encounters with the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, Steven Durow, who teaches glass art at Salisbury U and his students are constructing a 2-ton, 16-foot metal and glass modern sculpture.
The structure is comprised of recycled materials from the building that was torn down in order to make room for the River’s Edge Apartments.
“They wanted to take some part of the old building to make art for the new one. And so we came out on side and they were cutting these I beams out of the old building that they were tearing down and that was the beginning of this sculpture.”Said Durow.
The glass portions of the structure will be installed tomorrow due to the rain we had today.
