Monsters come to life at Pittsville Elementary

Monsters came to life Thursday at Pittsville Elementary School. Fourth graders were asked by their art teacher to draw a monster.

Without their knowing, the designs were brought to the honors art students at Parkside High School.

The high schoolers took the pictures and created 3-D stuffed animal versions. We’re told they made almost eighty and gave them all to the elementary students.

Stephanie McCoy, an art teacher at Parkside High School says, “For my high schoolers a lot of them are graduating, so this is kind of a memory lane back for them. Also, all of the students that got to Pittsville will come to Parkside. They will come to the school of the students that made this for them. That’s kind of a neat tie in.”

McCoy says this is the first time they’ve ever done the project, and by the reaction of the elementary students, they’re hoping to do it again.
