Maryland fire officials risk reduction weekend

According to the National Fire Protection Association nearly 70% of fire deaths result from fires in homes either without smoke alarms or with alarms that don’t work. That’s why the Office of the State Fire Marshal is partnering with the Maryland State Firemen’s Association and Maryland Fire Chief’s Association to push awareness.

The Maryland Fire Service Community Risk Reduction Weekend involves firefighters getting out in the community not only spreading the word but actually testing and installing working smoke alarms.

The dates for the fall Community Risk Reduction Weekend are October 17-18, 2015. Contact your local fire department to find out when and where fire officials may be in in your neighborhood.
