Laurel Coast Past Padua To Semis

The Laurel softball team coasted past Padua Tuesday afternoon to a 8-0 win to advance to the state semifinals. The Bulldogs will now face No. 3 Caravel on Thursday.
The Bulldogs would take the lead in the bottom of the first after Regan Green took the first pitch she saw for a solo shot. The lead would hold til the 3rd, when Laurel would stretch their lead to 2-0 after great bases running allowed for Susan Ryan to come in and score. The lead appeared as though it could be enough for Green, who was dealing on the mound for Laurel. She finished the game pitching a CG, SO 2-hitter with 13 strike outs. Laurel would blow the game open with a big 5th inning though, highlighted by a 3 run blast to left by Kelsie Joseph. Green would close out the game and give Laurel the win.
