Information sought on storage building fire in Laurel

Investigators are looking for information, after a Laurel barn was damaged by reckless burning.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office says just before 7:00 AM on Friday, a fire was reported at a 25 x 50 foot storage building on Sussex Avenue. The Laurel Volunteer Fire Department, Blades, and Seaford Fire companies reportedly responded to the scene, and put out the flames.

There were no injuries reported. Investigators say they found that the fire started inside the north end of the structure, and was caused by someone recklessly burning in a fire ring, that then lit up nearby combustibles. Damages are estimated at $2,500.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Office of the State Fire Marshal at 302-856-5600 or 1-800-847-3333
