Information sought on attempted store robbery near Oak Orchard

State Police are looking for information, after the apparent attempted robbery of an Oak Orchard area convenience store.

Delaware State Police say on Wednesday morning, around 7:50 AM, a man walked into the Shore Stop on Oak Orchard Road, armed with a handgun, and demanded money from the 75-year-old employee. According to the report, the employee told the would be robber that there was no money in the register, but the suspect then pushed the clerk aside, and tried to open the register.

Police say the clerk then ran from the counter to the back door, yelling at the kitchen for help, just as the suspect fled the store without any money. The female clerk was reportedly uninjured in the incident. Police describe the suspect as a 5′ 10″- 6′ tall man, weighing around 160 to 180 pounds, last seen wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, black glasses, with a grey shirt covering his face.
