Harrington man arrested for store robbery in Seaford

A Harrington man is behind bars, after Police say he robbed a Seaford store. Seaford Police say on Wednesday around 4:30 PM, Officers responded to reports of a robbery at the El Amigo Mexican Store on Norman Eskridge Highway, in Seaford.
Police say someone walked into El Amigo, pulled out a gun, and demanded money from the clerk. The suspect reportedly then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash from the store. Officers say, thanks to a vehicle description, they were able to catch up with the black Nissan truck on Stein Highway.
The driver, 34-year-old Michael Fitzgerald was arrested, and taken back to the station for processing. During a search of the truck, Police say they found a loaded .22 caliber rifle, 7 baggies of heroin, and drug paraphernalia.
Fitzgerald was charged with robbery 1st degree, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of heroin, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is currently being held at the Sussex Correctional Institute on a $115,000 secured bond.
