Former Wico Co employee sues the county

A former Wicomico county employee is now suing the county for what he believes was a wrongful termination.   

Dave Inkrote was the emergency coordinator for the county.

His attorney Robin Cockey says he was fired for making a private Facebook group.

Interestingly Cockey says the county has no policy against social media.

Laying off Inkrote Cockey says not only hurts his client but also the county that he used to serve.

“It occurs to me that it’s probably a good idea to have a competent person in a position like the emergency management coordinator because after all, that person is probably managing and coordinating emergencies,” Cockey said.

The attorney says council man Larry Dodd suggested Inkrote form the group to discuss the county’s new employee handbook.

Cockey tells 47 ABC he’s not sure if any other members of the Facebook group is facing disciplinary action.
