DPD’s Street Crimes Unit paying off

Its been just a little over one-week since its reinstatement and Dover Police are already seeing the benefits of having their street crime unit back back in action.

The unit, who’s primary goal is to eliminate violent crime in Dover, has been credited with five arrests.

All of these arrests are drug related, with four coming from heroin arrests and one involving crack cocaine.

“Criminals are always going to be watching for our guys and trying to get one step ahead of us.It’s a constant chess match.” And “We’ve had a significant impact this far. Our unit is hitting the streets everyday being very proactive but there is still a lot of work to be done.” Says Cpl. Hoffman.

Although significant progress has been made, Corporal Mark Hoffman with Dover PD says it’s not possible to predict a continued pace as far as more arrests are concerned.
