Dovers Fall In State Tournament Semi-Finals
The Dover Senators entered the state tournament semi-finals with their eyes on Saturday’s state championship game, but first they would face a very good Appoquinimink baseball team Thursday night.
Appoquinimink took control of the game early on – with a three-run first inning to take a 3-0 lead. Dover struck back getting a run of their own to make it a 3-1 game, but the Jaguars continued to put pressure on the Senators. The fourth inning was the biggest for Appoquinimink? when Matt Alexander helped bring in 3 runs with a triple to deep right center – the Jaguars tallied up 6 runs in the top of the fourth. Dover responded with just one run while managing to score another two runs in the bottom of the seventh. However, the offense generated by the Senators was not enough to get the win at Frawley Field.
This was a tough game for Senators with a few seniors that will be missed next year as their season comes to an end tonight falling to Appoquinimink 9-4, the final.
