Dover PD preps for race weekend

NASCAR Drivers aren’t the only ones preparing for the Fed Ex 400.
The Dover Police Department is hard at work trying to make sure fans can have a fun and safe experience at the Monster Mile this weekend.
Police will be enforcing the city of Dover’s open container policy which states that unless done so in a permitted area, it is against the law to consume alcohol in any street, alley, highway, or public place within city limits.
In addition, police are urging that drivers proceed with caution throughout the weekend due to the increase in traffic.
“It brings in a lot of traffic, pedestrian and vehicle traffic, that Dover is not used to seeing on a day to day basis.” and “Use extra caution, slow your speed, and watch for pedestrians crossing the road.” Said Coporal Mark Hoffman with Dover PD.
He also tells 47 ABC that the best way to avoid traffic is to utilize any alternate routes available.
