Dover PD brings back Street Crimes Unit after 4 homicides in City

Following four homicides and several shootings in Dover since the beginning of the year, Dover Police say they are reinstating their Street Crimes Unit. Police say the return of the unit starts immediately.

According to officials, the unit had been implemented on a temporary basis, after several shooting incidents in the late summer and fall of 2014. During that time, the unit, which takes an aggressive, zero-tolerance approach to all criminal acts, made numerous arrests.

With the most recent shooting in the Capital Green development on Friday, the Department made the decision to reinstate the unit for the foreseeable future.
