Delaware State Police investigate threat made to local school

Delaware State Police are investigating a threat made to a Sussex County elementary school.

Police say around 9:50 AM Tuesday morning, someone called the main office of East Millsboro Elementary School and threatened to harm the children at that school.

The threat was investigated by Delaware State Police and they say it was not credible.

During the investigation, authorities say, a low-level lockdown was instituted for all schools in the Indian River School District as a precaution. The school eventually resumed normal operations around 12:20 PM Tuesday.

Officials with Delaware State Police say an increased trooper presence will be maintained at the schools for the remainder of Tuesday.
