Del. fire officials investigating 2 fires

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a pair of overnight fires in New Castle County.

Fire officials say the Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown responded to a house fire in the 100 block of Clear Creek Drive just before 3 a.m. on Sunday. Officials say the structure was heavily damaged during the blaze, and that five people were taken to the hospital, treated and released.

Officials say the Wilmington Manor Fire Company responded to a second fire in New Castle just after 4 a.m. Officials say no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fires is under investigation.
