Decatur Baseball Down IR, Improve to 17-1

The Stephen Decatur baseball team hit the field Friday afternoon to take on Indian River and came away with a 10-2 win. The win improves the Seahawks to 17-1, while the loss drops the Indians to 5-9.

Decatur’s bats would come alive in the 2nd inning as they would hang a crooked number to take the early lead. Justin Meekins would come through with a timely hit at the plate to help get the momentum in his teams favor, but the Indians would calm down from there. Albert Clark would find his groove and quiet the Seahawks bats for a while to keep his team in it.  Grant Donahue would have his stuff for the Seahawks as the Indians could catch up to him til late when the game was well in hand.

Decatur now waits to see if they will play in the Bayside Championship game, while Indian River returns to action Tuesday when they travel to play Woodbridge.
