DE lab closes after suspected anthrax sent from Dept. of Defense

A private commercial laboratory in Delaware has been closed his after the US department of defense reportedly sent suspected live anthrax spores to the lab.

According to the division of public health the owner of the Delaware lab was contacted on Saturday and instructed to close it until further notice. The CDC says there is no known risk to the public at this time.

However, out of extreme precaution, the DPH recommended anyone who may have come into contact with the sample to be placed on antibiotics.  The suspected spores have been reportedly transferred to the CDC for testing.

DPH is currently working with the laboratory on decontamination and restoration.
