Bucs blow by Bulls to make state title game

The Kent Island boys lacrosse team advanced to their second straight state title game, beating Hereford 10-4 at Annapolis High School on Friday night.

The Buccaneers and Bulls traded goals throughout the first quarter, with Kent Island getting goals by Zach Goodrich and Bobby Giuffreda. Hereford attack Neil Lavietes would respond with a couple goals of his own. After being tied 4-4 after one quarter, the Bucs began to turn loose. Guiffreda completed his hat-trick early in the second quarter, and the Bucs began to look for more. Goals from Stone Boone, Luke Fromert, and Frankie Kratovil pushed halftime lead to 7-4.

In the second half, Conner Flounlacker opened up things with his first goal of the game.  In addition to more offense, the defense was suffocating, not allowing a goal since 50 seconds remaining in the first quarter. The Bucs would preserve the 3/4 game shutout, and go on to a 10-4 win. Kent Island will now take on River Hill at Stevenson University.
