Brush fire spreads 15 acres in Dewey Beach

A fast-moving brush fire in Dewey Beach started just north of the Indian River Inlet on Tuesday. We’re told the fire started out small around 11:45 a.m.

However, wind caught the flames spreading them rapidly through about 15 acres of land. The Rehoboth Beach fire chief says it took a little more than three hours to put out.

Two fire fighters suffered minor injuries and were treated on the scene. Six fire companies including Rehoboth responded. They were also assisted by the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit.
