Bill aims to crack down on sex abuse by health professionals

A new bill to crack down on sexual abuse by health professionals was introduced in Delaware this week.
Supporters of “Lynette’s Law” influenced the introduction of House Bill 130, which in essence would make sexual contact with a patient a felony against health care professionals. 47 ABC spoke to Representative Kimberly Williams (D-Del.) who says she was approached by “Lynette’s Law” founder and abuse victim Heather Sinclair.
The goal of the law is to make sexual contact by a health professional a felony in the first state. As of right now it is just a misdemeanor. Williams went on to add that if this bipartisan effort is passed, the next goal will be to eliminate and appeal that is available for health professionals to try to re-obtain their license after a felony conviction.
A version of the bill is also being pushed in Maryland.
