AAA warns about “100 deadliest days”

Statistics show that the period between Memorial day and Labor Day, known as the “100 deadliest days”, marks the time when teen crash fatalities historically climb.
Officials from AAA Mid Atlantic say teen crash rates are higher than any other age group and the impact of their crashes extend well beyond just the teen that is driving.
The study analyzed data of police-reported crashes of drivers ages 15 through 19 from 1994-2013, found that the majority of people killed and injured in crashes involving a teen driver are people other than the teen themselves. Nearly 30% of those killed were in another car, 27% were the teen’s passenger and 10% were non-motorists.
Some safe-driving advocates are hoping the research can be presented to lawmakers to push for legislation that results in an impactful difference.
