Wicomico Co. Schools cancels Baltimore field trips

The Wicomico County Public Schools says they are cancelling, or re-arranging trips to the Baltimore area for the remainder of the week, due to the events happening in the city.

Wicomico County Public Schools says due to PARCC testing, there weren’t many field trips planned, but those that were, have been changed. Officials say the change is “out of concern for the safety of our students, chaperones and staff members.”

West Salisbury Elementary, who had a trip for Wednesday planned to the Baltimore Zoo, will no instead go to the National Zoo in Washington. Mardela Middle and High, will not be going to the Baltimore Zoo on Friday, as planned.

Officials say a decision is pending on a planned trip next week to the Maryland Science Center. The situation will apparently be re-evaluated on May 3, to see about plans for next week.
