Vitella throws a gem in Cape’s statement win over Sussex Tech

Devin Vitella pitched a complete game four hit shutout, as Cape Henlopen upset Sussex Tech 10-0 in five innings in Lewes, Friday afternoon.

The Vikings used two huge innings to defeat the Henlopen North leader. Drew Mulcahy got the scoring started for Cape with a two out, 2 RBI single, scoring Vitella and David Kennedy. By the time the second inning was over, Sussex Tech trailed 6-0. The fourth inning was also a big one for Cape, with the Vikings scoring four runs in the frame, highlighted by Zach Gelof’s 2-run double.

The loss snaps an eight-game winning streak by Tech. The Ravens will look to get back on track Tuesday when they visit rival Sussex Central, while Cape looks to continue their success, visiting Milford Tuesday. Both games are set to start at 4:15.
