UPDATE: Townsend sentenced for January 2014 attempted murder

A Salisbury man has been convicted on attempted murder charges, after shooting another inside of a Wicomico County home.
On Friday, 19-year-old Jeremiah Townsend was convicted of attempted murder 2nd degree, and use of a handgun in the commission of a violent crime. The charges stem from a January 2014 incident that happened inside of a Salisbury home. Townsend and others were playing dice inside of the Hammond Street home, when Townsend got into an argument with someone else.
During the argument, Townsend shot the victim in the abdomen. The victim was later rushed to Peninsula Regional Hospital, where he had surgery for his injuries.
Following the conviction, Townsend was sentenced to 20 years for the attempted murder charge, and 20 years on the firearm offense. The sentences with be served consecutively, which will be followed by three years of supervised probation.
At this time, Townsend is behind bars in Delaware, on gun charges. He will continue to serve his eight year sentence there, before serving his 20 years in Maryland.
