UPDATE: Salisbury PD conducting death investigation after drowning

Police have officials announced the name of the victim in that drowning in the Wicomico River.
Police say on Sunday night, Lamar Byron Sheppard, 24, of Salisbury, was in the water off of Riverside Drive and wasn’t able to swim. Police are not releasing how Sheppard ended up in the river, however officials tell 47 ABC the circumstances do not allude to suicide. Foul play still hasn’t been ruled out.
According to Salisbury Police, a good samaritan pulled the Sheppard from the water and attempted life-saving efforts. He was later transported to PRMC where he was pronounced deceased.
Detectives reportedly interviewed witnesses of the incident and are trying to find several others.
Maryland State Police Homicide Unit, The Wicomico County State’s Attorney’s Office, and the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Department are all assisting on this investigation.
