UPDATE: Malicious activity possibly involved in Salisbury gas leak

Fire crews have confirmed with 47 ABC that there was a gas leak inside a home at 110 W. Philadelphia Avenue.

They tell us that there was a high volume of gas coming from the basement of the abandoned home. A portion of W. Philadelphia Avenue was blocked to traffic, but has since re-opened.

Salisbury Fire Assistant Chief, Chris O’Barsky, says crews responded to the scene after reportedly receiving a call from a neighbor who said they smelled gas.

Houses in the immediate area were evacuated, but residents have been permitted to return. Fire crews have left the scene, but Police are reportedly investigating the incident, as it apparently appears that copper pipes were cut loose, releasing the gas. Officials say they believe malicious activity was involved.
