UPDATE: Information sought on fatal hit and run in Cheswold

State Police say the investigation into an early morning fatal hit and run crash involving a pedestrian, north of Cheswold, is on-going.

Delaware State Police say on Thursday morning, just before 5:00 AM, Troopers responded to a fatal motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on Route 13, near South Messina Hill Road.

A newspaper deliver person on Route 13 apparently reported the incident. Police say the currently unidentified adult male pedestrian, was found lying in a driveway, and was pronounced dead on the scene by paramedics. The body is now reportedly in the custody of he Delaware Division of Forensic Science, where an autopsy will be performed, and a positive identification made.

Police say the vehicle that hit the man fled the scene, and had not been identified at this time.

Traffic on Route 13 southbound was diverted for several hours, but the roadway has since re-opened.
