UMES Softball’s Senior Day Spoiled By Morgan St.

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore softball team had their senior day spoiled Saturday afternoon after Morgan State staged a late rally to win 5-2. The loss drops the Hawks to 7-29 overall, and 4-11 in MEAC play.
The teams would be locked in a pitchers duel early, with neither team being able to string together several consecutive hits. The Hawks would strike first after Vanessa Gomez sent a liner up the middle for an RBI double. Morgan King would then come through with an RBI base knock in the 5th to push the Hawks lead to 2-0. But the Bears would come clawing back in the top of the 7th. They would score 5 runs off 6 hits and an error to pull out in front, and the Hawks couldn’t come up with an answer in the bottom of the frame.
UMES returns to action next Saturday when they travel to play at Delaware State University.
