UMES Baseball’s Comeback Falls Short To Norfolk

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore’s baseball team fell behind 5-0 early to Norfolk State, before eventually falling 5-4. The loss drops the Hawks to 15-27 overall and 13-8 in the MEAC.
The Spartans would strike first, quickly getting to UMES’s starter Jordan Bone. They would plate 5 runs through 2 and 2/3s innings to end his day, aided by 3 errors. The Hawks then tried to rally themselves in the 4th. Errors from the Spartans infield would allow UMES to get several runners aboard before they began to come up with timely hits. Skylar Murray would get things started with a line to 2nd which would be booted off a bad bounce to allow a runner to come home. Then Jordan Martin would hit one to short, and beat out the double play for an RBI fielders choice. The Spartans though would get out of the innings and quiet the Hawks bats the rest of the day.
UMES returns to action Wednesday when tehy host UMBC for their senior day.
