The Wildcats Down The Spartans On The Road
Delmar hit the road taking on the Lake Forest Spartans – the Wildcats take and early 2-0 lead. However, the Spartans would not go down at home that easily – in the bottom of the 4th inning, Lake Forest rallies back with two runs of their own.
The game will remain tied up until the top of the seventh when Delmar’s first batter up was walked. Lake Forest followed that walk with a pitching change – bringing catcher, Dillon Cole, to the mound. The Wildcats were ready to strike and they would do just that – two batters later – Timothy Ward knocks in the go-ahead run with a hit up the third baseline to make it a 3-2 game. This play was a bit controversial because the Lake Forest side felt the call was wrong and that the ball should have been foul. Lake Forest looked to get their bats swinging in the bottom of the 7th, however, Delmar played solid defense and made it a one-two-three inning to end the game.
Delmar wins on the road over Lake Forest, 3-2 the final.
