Shore counties to receive aerial mosquito control

Officials from the Maryland Department of Agriculture have announced they will be spraying for mosquitoes this week in Dorchester, Somerset, and Worcester counties. Residents should expect to see the mosquito control aircraft larvaciding over 4,000 acres of wooded wetlands on Wednesday, April 15, 2015.
47 ABC spoke to Daniel Schamberger of Mosquito Control who says despite the long winter, larviciding operations are right on time.
The department wants residents to know in case anyone is alarmed, the aircraft they will use in the operation is a twin-engine white plane with red and blue stripes, that will hover about 250 feet above the ground as it does its sweeps.
Dorchester, Somerset and Worcester counties are the only counties that have an aerial larviciding contract with Mosquito Control. Wicomico County will also have areas sprayed, but from the ground at a later date.
