Salisbury’s Glen Avenue closing Thursday for poodle show

A heads up for drivers in Salisbury, Glen Avenue will be closed for a week, to make it safer for Poodle Show participants and visitors.

Starting Thursday at 6:00 PM, Glen Avenue from Civic Avenue to St. Alban’s Drive will be closed, for the 83rd Annual Poodle Club of America National Specialty Show, at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center. The closure, which allows participants and spectators to cross from the parking lot to the popular event safely, will be in place until Friday, April 24, at 8:00 PM.

Wicomico County has hosted the Poodle Show for the last 10+ years, which brings poodle owners from across the United States, Europe, Australia and Japan to our area. The show is free of charge for spectators and open to the public. Officials say the inside of WY&CC is totally transformed for the event, while the parking lot becomes an RV campground.

The event is expected to bring $1.8 million dollar economic impact for the area, thanks to all the visitors staying, shopping, and eating locally.
