Salisbury University student installs energy efficient lights

A Salisbury University student is now considered an inspiration to make the campus more energy efficient. Miguel Bolano, a senior at Salisbury University, is a part of the Green Fund Committee which focuses on sustainability. Students on the committee propose different ideas and take action if approved. Bolano’s idea was to replace all the lights in the Salisbury admissions house with LED bulbs.

47 ABC spoke with Bolano who tells us, “We should always work towards the environment and always look towards a better future and I figured this was one of the best ways to do it.”

The upgrade was not cheap, costing the University $18,000. But Bolano says the project will pay for itself in just about two years. It will also save the University $2,000 a year in electricity costs. The University is set to continue its planet saving efforts on Thursday when they will be hosting Recycle Madness, a competitive recycling event on campus between students to see who can recycle the most trash.
