Salisbury man charged in Park Drive shooting

Police say Hicks used this gun during the shooting

A Salisbury man is behind bars after reportedly lying to police.

According to Salisbury PD, officers responded to a house N. Park Drive on Tuesday afternoon for reports of a firearms incident.

Police say the lessee of the home Cody Braxton Hicks, 22, of Salisbury, told them someone stole property from his residence and fired a single gunshot into the air as they fled in a newer model Honda sedan.

Police continued to investigate the incident, and after searching Hicks’ home, they found he lied in his initial story.

According to reports, Hicks was found to be a drug dealer and, on Tuesday, had arranged to sell pot to an unidentified buyer. Police say, during the sale, the buyer tried to steal weed from Hicks. Reports say the buyer eventually fled the home, with hicks reportedly firing a shotgun at the car as it drove away.

No injuries were reported in the shooting.

Police say Hicks admitted to lying to cover up the  illegal activity he engaged in. He was arrested, transported to Wicomico County Central Booking, and charged with false statement to police officers, obstructing and hindering, along with discharging a firearm within city limits.

Authorities say the Salisbury Police Department and the City of Salisbury Neighborhood Services are working with the landlord of the home on N. Park Drive in an effort to eliminate this activity in the future.

The investigation is ongoing. Police are asking anyone with any information to call the Salisbury Police Department or Crime Solvers at (410) 548-1776. You may remain anonymous. Crime Solvers will reportedly pay up to $1000 for information that leads to an arrest in this investigation.
