Salisbury “Die In” protest results in peaceful turnout

On Wednesday evening around 50 people gathered in downtown Salisbury for a “Die In” and Justice Vigil to mourn the death of Freddie Gray as well as Salisbury man Winfield Fisher.

Salisbury residents as well as Salisbury University students took to the streets to voice their opinions on the current situations in Baltimore and what can be done to help prevent damaging riots in the future.

SU Student Nia Avery said, “I’m here because I noticed that I am a victim of silence a lot of times and when I really want to speak out I find myself reflecting on my actions.”

After an hour and a half of peaceful protesting, crowds dispersed.

Salisbury Police Captain Rich Kaiser said, “To be honest we really didn’t know what to expect, we were coming here fully prepared for anything . . . We were lucky to experience what we experienced tonight and everything ended peacefully.”
