Sabra hummus recalled due to Listeria contamination

A company known for their dips, has issued a recall, after a random sample tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes.

The Food and Drug Administration says Sabra has recalled some of their hummus products after a March 30th, sampling from a store by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development revealed the contamination. This test prompted a recall of five products, nationwide.

The products being recalled are:

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism, that presents with high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, and can cause miscarrages in pregnant women. Symptoms can be serious, and sometimes fatal, in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Officials say there have been no reports of any illness.
