MD Democrats enter budget standoff

Maryland Democrats are not wavering in their firm budget standoff with Republican Governor Larry Hogan.

House Speaker Michael Busch made it clear democrats would not back down on fully funding health programs, education, and cost of living adjustments for state employees.

The budget for that funding has already passed in both the state house and senate. The House Speaker says they’re only asking Governor Hogan to support a budget plan already approved on bipartisan votes.

Governor Hogan proposed a budget compromise Saturday that restored a large portion, but not all of the Democrats funding priorities.
