Late Comeback Lifts Bennett Past Pocomoke

The James M. Bennett baseball team overcame a slow start to defeat Pocomoke 12-4 on Monday afternoon. The win improves the Clippers to 9-4, while the loss drops the Warriors to 4-10.

The Warriors would jump out to a quick 3-1 lead by the 4th inning. Pocomoke would the stretch their lead to 4-1 after an RBI single from Jacob Glovier. Glovier would also earn the start on the mound for the Warriors where he would work himself out of several jams as Pocomoke appeared to be on their way to an upset win. Then the Clippers came storming back, starting in the 6th. The Clippers would work the bases loaded with no outs, forcing a pitching change for the Warriors. Bennett would then draw back to back walks to pull within 4-3. Then after an RBI fielder choice tied up the game, the Clippers would take a 3 run lead off a 3 run home run to dead center from Caleb Taylor. Bennett never looked back from there, as the bats got hot and they would continue to pile on the runs in the win.

Bennett returns to action Tuesday when they travel to Mardela, while Pocomoke returns to action Wednesday when they host Wicomico High School.
