Hurlock breaks ground on solar powered waste water treatment plant

Town leaders in Hurlock break ground on what is being described as one of the largest municipal solar powered electrical systems on the eastern shore of Maryland.

The new solar powered waste water treatment plant project has been in the works for more than two years.

Once installed, is predicted to supply clean renewable solar energy to Hurlock for the next twenty years.

We’re told because of the town’s partnership with VW Energy, this installation is at no cost to taxpayers.

Joyce Spratt, the mayor of Hurlock says, “We’re going to save so much money on our electric that runs the waste water plant. Our bills runs at about two- hundred and fifty thousand dollars a year. We can save about ten to twelve percent. That’s huge.”

The new solar energy project is predicted to be up and running in about four months.
