House fire hospitalizes one

One man was sent to the hospital after a house fire on Elizabeth Street.

Authorities say calls for a reported fire on two-story home came in around 10:30 p.m. Monday.

According to Salisbury Fire assistant chief Bryan Records, there was heavy fire found in the rear of the home when crews arrived. We’re told the fire was caused by a man working on a motorcycle fuel pump with gas on the second floor of the building.

“Could’ve been a lot worse, we just had the one part burned, he was able to get out. No deaths. One injury, so could’ve been a lot worse.” Says Records.

We’re told two men live in the home and one was transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center (PRMC) for burn injuries.

Delmar Fire also assisted on Monday.
