Family seeks justice for Keisha Hamilton

Keisha Hamilton’s bright smile will now forever be missed by her family. Already suffering tremendous heartbreak from the recent loss of Keisha’s father following her disappearance, they’ve now learned her husband has been indicted for her murder.

“I do want justice but that’s still not closure. My sister will always be murdered, so…my heart will never close from that. It’s something I’m going to have to carry with me and my family has to carry with them everyday for the rest of our lives.” Says her sister, Janell Foster.

Janell is Keisha’s older sister. She led countless efforts to find Keisha ever since she and her two children went missing in January. Within 24 hours, investigators managed to find 4-year-old Colette and five-month-old Cortez, Jr. in Indiana with their father Cortez Hamilton Senior.

When police found the two children, Keisha was nowhere to be found.

To avoid the risk of compromising with the ongoing investigation, Janell did not disclose her thoughts on Cortez, Sr. when asked what he was like; however, she says she has long believed he had something to with Keisha’s disappearance.

“The day before, she sent me a disturbing text…that she was afraid of him and that if anything ever happened to her to tell the police, to check him.” She says.

On top of first degree murder, Cortez faces two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and possession of a deadly weapon.

Investigators believe he killed his wife with a hammer in front of his children before taking off with them across country.

Janell says for her, justice for Keisha means more than convicting her killer. She wants the killer to come forward with her body.

“Just to know that she’s just thrown anywhere is…is horrible, you know? Her children deserve to have her laid to rest. She deserves to be laid to rest properly.” Explains Janell.

Keisha’s four children are now living with their aunt.

Janell tells us there is a go-fund-me account set up for the family. If you’d like to help out, please click here.
