Families spend big bucks on prom

We’re now in the thick of prom season. It appears many high schoolers and their parents are breaking the bank for this annual rite of passage.
A nationwide survey conducted by Visa found that the average family spends more than $1,100 on prom.
Although that price tag fluctuates based on the year and inflation, folks at “Delmarvalous Occasions” tell us this number isn’t surprising at all.
Kati Lister, the general manager of Delmarvalous Occasions says, “It’s not. Between the average prom dress being anywhere from $250 to $600, tuxedo rentals are between $100 and $150, and then you have the cost of the flowers, the prom tickets, everything. It’s like a high school girl’s pre- wedding.”
To help cut down on the costs, Lister tells us they have special promotions so that students can score some free prom stuff. For more information, contact them at 443-944-0177.
